Lindemans

Francisca Vandersmissen was born circa 1800 in Hof ter Kwadewegen in Vlezenbeek on a bed of hops and malt. The region's noble beer lineage flowed freely through her veins. Years later, her sparkling appearance captivated Joos Lindemans. In 1822, the young couple was wed and moved into the Vandersmissen farm brewery. Soon after, they began to brew the foaming gold we call Gueuze. Lindemans brewery was born.

As a tribute to Francisca, our founding mother, we present our exclusive anniversary beer Oude Gueuze Anniversary Blend 2022 “ Cuvée Francisca “.

Secret technique

"Cuvée Francisca" is a blend of 4-year-old lambic from the oak casks T1001 (20%), T1006 (35%), T1017 (35%) and 10% young lambic from foeder (oak cask) T1014. The entire blend was then allowed to ferment for another 12 months in the bottle before it was ready to be shared with the public.

This oude gueuze pours a golden blond color, combining flavors of oak, citrus and notes of vanilla with a pleasing sherry aroma and a refreshing sourness. It is a dry, complex and beautifully balanced oude gueuze for enthusiasts and those new to the style alike.

Conservation tip Due to the second fermentation process in the bottle, its shelf life is the same as that of a good bottle of wine. Bottles can be stored in a cellar lying on their sides. After transportation, a 3-day rest period will allow the yeast to settle to the bottom of the bottle. This makes it possible to serve the beer without it becoming cloudy.
